An important fact that an individual has to be aware of is that many people have thyroid problems and sadly not all of them know that they are suffering from it. There is the need for an individual to be keen to ensure that the thyroids hormones are not off-balance. Thyroid plays major roles in the body as it participates in regulating hormones. These hormones are known to be responsible for appetite, body temperature, metabolism among others. There are two conditions that are as a result of the imbalance of the hormones, one is hyperthyroidism where less hormones are produced and whereby the thyroid gland is overactive is known as hypothyroidism.
It is important for an individual to be aware of the symptoms that will indicate that they have thyroid problems. The first symptom that one will experience if they have thyroid problem is that their weight will change dramatically. There is the need for one to consider being changes of they gain or lose weight yet their routine is still the same. The second symptom is when one frequently feels fatigued. When less hormones are produced, then it is certain that one will be tired, but when there is more, then he or she will have issues finding sleep. If one notes that they have started looking different, then they need to make a point of being checked for it could be a thyroid issue. It is important for one to know that if they have a thyroid problem, they face tends to be puffy and itchy and at the same time they have weak hair.
In most occasions, when one has sleep apnea, then it could be as a result of a thyroid problem. Being checked is important if one finds it difficult to sleep of that they snore. It is also most likely that if one has a thyroid issue, then he or she will feel too hot or cold. When one misses her periods, it might be linked to thyroid issues, this is because if one is not pregnant or not at menopause stage, then they need to have regular periods.
Checking on the appearance of the thyroid is important in a case that one does not have the above symptoms. If one decides to get tested to check of they have thyroid issues, then TSH, free T3, and free T4 will be measured. If one has the thyroid problem, then it is important that they follow the doctors instructions. Going for a checkup is a necessity even if one does not have the symptoms for them to always be healthy.
